TOWN OF JAFFREY DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Town of Jaffrey, NH (population 5,503) is seeking candidates for the Director of Planning and Economic Development position. Jaffrey is in the southwest corner of New Hampshire, 18 miles southeast of Keene, and home to Mount Monadnock. Be part of a team working on multiple exciting development opportunities for the community, fully supported by and working cooperatively with all levels and departments of town government. The Director is a full-time position under the general director of the Town Manager, responsible for directing long-term planning related to the natural and cultural resources and economic development of the Town. Working with a budget of $500,000, the Director oversees 1 FT employee and provides management, leadership, and coordination to the planning, zoning and economic development activities of the Town. Must possess a service-oriented attitude and a thorough knowledge of municipal government, land use operations and functions of a municipal land use department. The ideal candidate possesses a level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Community Development, Environmental Studies, or a closely related field; or any combination of education and experience necessary to perform the required duties, skills and abilities. Grant writing skills and five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal government setting are ideal.
