John Gavras Center and ensure delivery of appropriate and high-quality educational services. The Director will also work closely with classroom staff, Daycare Director, and therapy staff to develop a curriculum that is comprehensive and high quality, meeting the NYS PS Learning Standards. The position will also work collaboratively with the appropriate agency staff to ensure that services are comprehensive and allow for all learning avenues to be met. Essential Functions Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy and FERPA regulations. Directly supervises the day to day operations of the Gavras Children’s Program in conjunction with the Vice President of Operations. Administers standardized assessment tools for teacher and staff evaluations. Facilitates the development of a consistent and appropriate curriculum for use in classroom and across all Happiness House sites. Ensures the Agency Guidelines and educational needs comply with all applicable NYS and local regulations and Federal Performance Standards. Understand their role as a NYS Mandated Reporter Monitors classroom enrollments for special needs students, UPK/EPK students, EI enrollments, as well as Private Pay Daycare students. Participates in the development and monitoring of program budgets in collaboration with the CFO and/or Controller. Acts as consultant to teachers in programs, offering support and coaching/mentoring when working with children on the spectrum or any child with special needs. Demonstrates leadership ability by setting goals, prioritizing needs and collaboratively finding the best solutions to program needs. Guides teachers and staff through annual review process and coordinates a system that is effective and efficient. Coordinates regular teacher meetings, paraprofessional meetings and attends therapy meetings as needed. Coordinates site meetings quarterly or as needed at the GAC. Attends CPSE meetings for children enrolled and any new referrals, or appoints a designee to attend. Works with local school districts for enrollment needs Participates in Directors meetings and other meetings as needed. Coordinates school wide activities for children and families. Carries out agency policies and procedures and communicates these to staff members. In conjunction with the Director of Daycare, coordinates to provide oversight and administrative oversight during program hours. Handles emergency health situations that may develop. Works with Finance to order classroom and program supplies. Schedules parent and family classroom visits as needed with the Program Director or designee. Develops an annual inventory of all classroom equipment and supplies. Participates in conferences, workshops, and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises all teachers and educational staff along with Early Intervention staff. Oversees clinical staff with the support of the Clinical Supervisor. Directly oversees the Director of Daycare. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competency Requirements) Strong Leadership Skills. Effective Verbal and Written Communication Skills. Effective Classroom Management Skills with emphasis on behavior management for children on the Autism spectrum. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Ability to facilitate group meetings. Ability to set priorities and adapt to change. Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Education with Birth-2 Special Education Certification (preferred) or a Master’s Degree with a NYS Clinical Certification. School Administration Certification preferred, but not required. Experience with young children with developmental delays. A minimum of five years of experience working with children with disabilities. Experience mentoring and coaching teachers to assist with behavior management needs and maintain a high level of performance. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Valid NYS driver’s license. Must have a demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance. Physical Demands & Work Environment Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to push/pull objects up to 100 pounds. Regularly required to talk or hear. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Noise level in this position may range from low to moderate. Ability to use standard office equipment. This position operates in a preschool program environment. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Evening work may be required as job duties demand. Travel for this position is primarily local during the business day if needed. The E.
