%20BUDGET%20COORDINATOR The Accounting Coordinator-Budget prepares the agency’s annual budget. Coordinates the budget input and approval levels in the agency’s Enterprise Resource Planning system. Develops the annual budget book for presentation to the Agency, Commission and County Council. This position occasionally requires evening, weekend, and holiday work. Eligible to work in a hybrid environment as needed.

FLSA Status:

Exempt Specialized Duties and Responsibilities Plans, organizes and coordinates the development, preparation, implementation and evaluation of the agency’s annual budget. Provides training and staff support for processes related to the annual budget. Develops the agency’s annual salary projection for posting into annual budget. Resolves budgeting conflicts and discrepancies with staff representatives. Analyzes revenue and expenditure variances to actuals of the approved budget. Performs regular maintenance of General Ledger accounts. Assists with year-end closing procedures. Coordinates activity related to the agency’s sub-ledger for capital improvement projects. Assigns and maintains all Project Ledger codes and reconciles to the General Ledger monthly. Provides training and staff support for Project Ledger processes. Participates in the annual audit by producing required data and reports. General Duties and Responsibilities Maintains affiliations and certifications with appropriate professional organizations in accordance of this position’s duties. Performs all other duties as assigned. Education and Work Experience Requirements A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university in accounting, business, budgeting, computers, or a related field, with three years’ experience preferred. This may be offset by an Associate’s degree plus four years’ experience or a high school diploma and six years total experience required. Experience with financial ERP is preferred. Must pass a drug test and criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and shall possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Extensive knowledge of financial principles and standards including budgeting, financial management and audit processes. Sufficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) for government and enterprise operations including accounts payable, account receivables, cash management and reconciliation, accruals, payroll processing. Extensive experience in building comprehensive balanced budgets for organizations through research, analysis, planning and forecasting. Sufficient skill at budget management through maintaining accurate records, making accurate arithmetic calculations, periodic monitoring, reporting and maximizing revenues while controlling expenses. Sufficient knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws and regulations, and financial reporting practices. Sufficient experience with maintaining accurate records, performing a wide range of mathematical formulas, computations, operations and analysis. Sufficient experience in preparing and presenting reports in a clear and concise manner. Extensive experience in Microsoft Office for Business Applications, spreadsheet preparation and maintenance, and other applicable financial management systems software for accounting. Sufficient experience in establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, suppliers, vendors, industry professionals and financial institutions Sufficient experience in actively listening and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in oral and written form. General experience in assisting with making sound business decisions that positively impact the company’s financial standings Sufficent experience in being detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and productive Sufficient experience in recognizing, researching, analyzing and solving problems both independently and within teams. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements This position requires moving, and also remaining stationary for long periods of time in an office environment, as well as, infrequently in outside environments; infrequently traversing outside terrain such as concrete, pavement, grass, dirt, and sand; frequently writing, reading, processing and moving documents; frequently operating equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, and scanners; frequently communicating with staff and the public in person, online, and by phone; infrequently traveling to central and remote locations throughout Charleston County; infrequent exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, precipitation, wind, sun exposure and humidity; occasionally moving, lifting, and transporting equipment and miscellaneous items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds, to a height of 3-4 feet.
