Assistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority LifePosting DetailsPOSTING INFORMATIONInternal TitleAssistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority LifePosition TypeClassifiedFaculty / Non-Faculty / AdministrationNon-FacultyPay Band5Level2DepartmentStudent LifeJob PurposeThe Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life performs professional duties in the areas of advising and personal development of students within the Fraternity and Sorority Life community at the College of Charleston. Meets regularly with Greek councils and assists the members of these groups with the development of programs, services and resources intended for use by the council and its member organizations.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in and relevant experience is required. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling or related field and a minimum of 2 years full-time experience in higher education is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience giving presentations and speaking to various audiences is required. Experience with computer software to include MS Office is essential. Experience with working withICSand OmegaFi. Must have working knowledge of Fraternity and Sorority Life related topics, principles, policies and practices. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies and organizational functions is preferred. Must have the ability to effectively prioritize, plan and organize work and tasks to meet goals and deadlines. Ability to train others as needed, be courteous and deal effectively with other personnel as well as the public is essential. Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Ability to work and maintain focus in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Additional Comments Regarding PositionFrequent oversight or participation in weekend and evening educational activities. Occasional overnight travel to professional conferences.
