The mission of the SC Commission for the Blind (SCCB), established in 1966, is to provide quality individualized vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services, and prevention-of-blindness services to South Carolinians who are blind or visually impaired leading to competitive employment and social and economic independence. The SCCB is currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Regional Director to oversee the delivery of quality vocational rehabilitation services in the in the Greenville, SC, (Region 1) area. Regional Directors travel throughout their assigned areas to SCCB offices, other state agencies, employers, schools, and other partners fostering collaboration. The Region 1 Director will, under the supervision of the Director of Consumer Services, provide supervision to staff in the assigned region and ensure effective efficient service delivery to consumers as well as partnering with other Regional Directors on broader statewide initiatives. Ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality services in assigned region.
Monitor performance of all assigned staff (in conjunction with the program leads) to ensure they have the tools needed to perform their jobs successfully. Monitor regional caseloads to ensure compliance with regulations, laws, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate community events in assigned region. Approve and review expenditures to ensure compliance and fiscal responsibility.
Ensures safety and security policies and procedures are followed at all assigned District Offices, and that facility and fleet issues are resolved in a timely manner. Coordinate office coverage for all staff in assigned region Participate in continuous professional development/leadership trainings and other duties as may be required for success of the program and BLVs.
Frequent in-state travel is required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master’s degree in a related field and experience in workforce development, human services or social services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and six (6) years of relevant experience to include supervision of support staff. Extensive knowledge of the federal and state law is essential to the program evaluation. The ability to effectively communicate goals and objectives and to motivate staff in attaining productivity standards is key. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the degree requirement.
