Retreats & Adventure Program Director – YMCA Camp Ocoee 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 111 Ymca Drive, Ocoee, TN 37361 Are you passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for those who love the outdoors? Join the YMCA Camp Ocoee, where a better community starts with you! We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Retreats & Adventure Program Director to oversee year-Round programming at Camp Ocoee, with a primary focus on the Adventure Guide/Princess Program, group retreats/rentals and support for summer Camp programming.
RESPONSIBILITES
Develop and implement innovative programming that ensures a fun, safe, engaging, and impactful experience in the following areas: Adventure Guides/Princess program (events, circles, etc.) Group Retreats (Johnson Retreat Center & Main Camp) Summer Camp (support for existing residence camp and potential on-site day camp) Work directly with Senior Program Director to recruit, hire, schedule, and train personnel and volunteers for associated programs; supervise daily activities of assigned staff. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Sr. Program Director in developing, managing and monitoring the operating budget and meeting budget targets. In collaboration with Camp leadership and the corporate marketing team, assist with the development, coordination and implementation of marketing strategies to attract and expand year-round programming. Achieve and exceed enrollment goals through proactive recruitment strategies, cross promotion and community engagement. Participate in the execution of the annual Community Support campaign. Maintain records accurately and in compliance with approved guidelines and standards of the association and ACA. Purchase and maintain inventory of recreation and other program supplies. Handle billing and accounts receivable for Groups/Rentals and Adventure Program. Serve as weekend manager on duty for weekends throughout the year along with the Sr. Program Director and the Executive Director. Serve on assigned association PMTs and committees. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a resident camp setting strongly preferred Professional oral and written communication skills Broad knowledge of camp programming, including climbing, high ropes, water skiing, swimming, boating, cabin life, evening programs, etc. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from all backgrounds, including children, teens, families, and other staff. Must display high degree of professionalism and customer service and exemplify YMCA values. Computer proficiency including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnights. Willingness to live onsite during programming, as needed. Ability to pass a criminal background check, including valid US Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces (up to 5 miles per day); sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs or ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 90 pounds with assistance. The employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and must be able to work outside during heat of summer and in winter cold. This is often an outdoor job so the individual must be able to cope with dust, pollen, insects etc. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
