Community Housing Advisor Cocaine Alcohol Awareness Program Memphis, TN 38107 Job Summary The Community Housing Advisor plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in securing stable housing. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, provide resources, and facilitate access to housing programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of housing regulations and support services. Duties Conduct assessments to determine clients’ housing needs and eligibility for various programs, including Section 8 and HUD. Provide guidance and support in the application process for housing assistance. Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in making informed decisions regarding their housing options. Negotiate with landlords and property management companies to secure suitable housing for clients. Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes. Collaborate with social service agencies to provide comprehensive support, including addiction counseling and crisis management when necessary. Stay informed about local housing laws and regulations to ensure compliance and advocate for clients’ rights. Facilitate workshops or informational sessions on housing resources available within the community. Qualifications Experience in property management or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of HUD, Section 8, and other housing assistance programs is highly desirable. Strong skills in motivational interviewing and crisis management are essential for effective client interaction. Background in social work or a related discipline is an asset. Ability to negotiate effectively with landlords and service providers. Familiarity with relevant laws governing housing assistance and tenant rights. Proficiency in using software tools such as OneSite for managing client information. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to client engagement.
