Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process purchase orders for raw materials, tools, equipment, and services. Liaise with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Maintain accurate purchasing records, including vendor details, order history, and cost data. Monitor inventory levels to ensure stock is replenished in a timely manner. Coordinate with warehouse, production, and quality control teams to verify material receipt and resolve any discrepancies. Follow up on outstanding orders to ensure timely delivery. Assist in evaluating vendor performance and pricing to maintain cost efficiency and reliability. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and steel industry standards. File and manage purchase records, invoices, and documentation for audits or reporting purposes. Assist in negotiating pricing and delivery terms under the direction of the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of purchasing or administrative experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Familiarity with steel or heavy manufacturing materials and suppliers is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
Work Environment:
Office setting within a steel manufacturing plant. Occasional visits to production areas or supplier sites may be required. PPE must be worn when in designated manufacturing zones.
