Assistant Purchasing Agent 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars New Rochelle, NY 10801 About the job We are seeking an intelligent, reliable, adaptive person to work in our organization. We are a fast-paced office and require an individual who can manage multiple tasks and work independently. Key responsibilities Responsibilities of the job include researching and identifying appropriate vendors for our stock and special-order items. Calling vendors to negotiate prices and follow up on delivery. Using sources such as catalogs and the internet to source items for special merchandise and place purchase orders with vendors. Contact suppliers to schedule and expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed and late deliveries, and other problems. Purchasing experience is preferred along with some building supply product knowledge, but we are willing to train if you are otherwise qualified. Other qualifications we are looking to find are: Strong creativity and critical thinking skills, computer skills and a willingness to learn. Also important are excellent customer service skills, verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to be helpful. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. A college degree is preferred. Preference will be given to those who live in the lower Westchester area. This is NOT a remote position. Candidate must be able to work in the New Rochelle Office. Monday-Friday.
