The buyer is responsible for overseeing the procurement and planning of materials needed for production. This role includes managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that inventory levels meet production requirements while minimizing costs. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
Manage relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable terms and conditions for materials procurement.
Analyze material requirements and coordinate with production planning to ensure timely availability of materials.
Monitor inventory levels and perform regular stock audits to maintain accuracy.
Utilize ERP systems to track purchasing activities and inventory status, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for savings and improve overall procurement efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, finance, and logistics, to align material needs with business objectives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in materials purchasing or planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills to manage vendor relationships effectively.
