GENERAL DESCRIPTION

: Semi-skilled entry-level position requiring a minimum of experience. This part-time position involves operating the City’s Waste Transfer Station. The Transfer Station is a for-fee drop-off site for yard waste, recyclables, and construction debris. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Transfer Station Technician III or designee.

Assist residents with offloading materials. Operate equipment, backhoes, wood chippers, and other machinery. Manage and direct traffic flow within the facility. Guide and instruct customers on transfer station rules and procedures. Estimate and collect applicable fees per the established fee schedule. Perform routine maintenance of grounds, buildings, and equipment. Work weekends and holidays as required. Assist in other areas of City operations, including right-of-way maintenance, mowing, trimming, storm debris cleanup, stormwater maintenance, and related activities. Perform turf maintenance including mowing, trimming, and sod installation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

AND ABILITIES

: 1. Ability to communicate verbally using the English language. 2. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 3. Ability to perform heavy manual labor and operate basic hand tools and powered tools 4. Operate basic hand tools using hands, fingers to hold and feel, reach with hands and arms.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

: 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent 2. Valid Florida driver’s license.

PHYSICAL SKILLS

: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
