Job Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham Police and Public Safety Department seeks a Security Operations Coordinator. This position will be assigned to the UAB Hospital Security Operations Center. and will provide Dispatcher services for UAB Police and Public Safety personnel. Sends and receives radio transmissions from sworn and non-sworn field units and surrounding agencies. Answers the telephone and determines the form of assistance required. Assures units within the department responds or refers the call to other sources for resolution. Performs multi-tasking priorities. Maintains knowledge of all required department policies and procedures. Operates the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and becomes certified on the same. Operates equipment in the Communications Center. Positions rotates on all shifts and all days of the week, at the discretion of SOC leadership. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Access and review security video systems and other technology as necessary in response to law enforcement related activities.
- Field phone calls and police radio communications in support of overall campus security operations.
- Answers the telephone and log calls for service related to safety and security.
- Operates the Alabama Criminal Justice information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and become certified on the same.
- Collaborates with UABPD dispatch and police officers responding to calls for service.
- Monitors and sends police radio traffic, provides information for reports, provides general assistance and information to the medical center and campus safety managers.
- Performs multi-tasking priorities. Maintains knowledge of all required departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary- $17.00 – $27.65 Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Ability to type twenty-five (25) WPM required. Must become certified to operate the Alabama Criminal Justice information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal.
