HVN. POSITION SUMMARY
The Landside Operations Coordinator ensures operational excellence with a focus on maintaining the safe and secure operation of all Landside airport facilities and equipment, including but not limited to the passenger terminals, roadways, walkways, parking lots, air carrier ramps, access control systems, and security systems. Primary responsibilities include traffic management, overseeing fueling and vehicle movements on the ramp, responding to emergencies, inspecting personnel and equipment per the airport security plan, generating work orders for facility maintenance, and assisting with air carrier coordination and snow removal. The position requires shift work, acceptable attendance, and satisfactory job performance. Because flight operations are conducted 24/7/365, day, night, weekend, and holiday work are required. Extended shifts, mandatory overtime, and/or callbacks may be necessary. Periodic shift rotation can be anticipated to maintain familiarity with all operational situations. Duties and assignments may change periodically.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform traffic control functions on all landside roadways. Coordinate with the Terminal Operations Controller for safe passenger movement and overall ramp operations. Respond to all landside emergency services requests. Monitor and assist with landside cleanliness to mitigate Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and other potential hazards on the ramp, including tripping and slipping, as well as performing ongoing trash pick-ups along terminal facilities, roadways, and parking lots. Report and respond to spills on the ramp, including oils and fuels. Oversee fueling, ground support vehicle movement, and other aircraft servicing. Perform facility inspections and generate necessary work orders. Escort vendors, contractors, and equipment across airport property. Assist the Airport Security Coordinator with all aspects of the Airport Security Program, including but not limited to: performing regular security inspections of the airport landside facilities, including sterile and secure/SIDA areas; conducting inspections of persons, vehicles, and goods; conducting Aviation Workers Screenings (AWS); responding to security-related events; addressing security issues involving personnel and vehicle access; and enforcing rules and regulations related to vehicle and equipment operations on the AOA. Monitor and respond to notifications from the airport’s access control and video surveillance systems. Conduct random security media inspections routinely. Monitor and respond to incidents in traffic and parking areas and on the ramp. Support management with the routine maintenance and coordination of airport systems, including communications equipment, security and access control systems, paging systems, phone and computer networks, utility services, and other related infrastructure. Identify and resolve any observed safety concerns or violations of airport rules and regulations and properly notify management of violations or safety/security concerns. Assist Customer Service Specialists in maintaining welcoming and efficient terminal spaces. Monitor conditions and assist with removal of snow and ice from roadways, walkways, and parking lots. May assist airside operations and maintenance crews with snow removal on terminal ramp areas. Assist the Terminal Operations Controller in coordinating air carrier movements, gate allocations, and aircraft deicing. Complete initial airfield driver training and maintain privileges through annual recurrent training. Other duties as assigned by Airport Management.

Preferred candidate will have at least one (1) year of experience in airport operations or a security-related field, or an Associate’s Degree or greater from an accredited school. Must be able to pass security clearance requirements and required drug testing. Possession of a valid driver’s license suitable for operation of all airport vehicles and equipment, and ability to maintain acceptable driving record as required for insurance. Well-established work ethic, initiative, and detail-oriented professional standards. Must demonstrate situational awareness. Ability to focus on diverse responsibilities, manage complex scenarios, and make prudent and mature decisions. Ability to possess ramp, airport, and aircraft knowledge and qualifications.
