Role Overview:
The Production Planner/Scheduler works with various areas and levels of the company to manage the flow of production and materials for production related activities for all products within our Neptune Brand located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Work with all departments (sales, engineering, finance, Procurement, etc) to provide scheduling information for their needs and obtain necessary inputs to produce an accurate schedule. Opens and launches work orders as required and monitors all open work orders to ensure they have been closed in a timely manner. Works with engineering on the custom order process to ensure all work orders are created and operations has the necessary orders and drawings to complete manufacturing of customs in a timely manner. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc Confirms material supply and demands. Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications. Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems Prepare and maintain production/inventory control reports Locates parts / work orders within the manufacturing facility and moves parts to subsequent operations as required to minimize delay through the process. Coordinate execution of the master schedule pertaining to assigned material Identify, communicate, and mitigate obstacles to meeting schedule with necessary stakeholders Work with internal and procurement to understand and communicate needs and ensure that data within planning systems accurately reflect expectations Timely reporting of unavailable and backordered items to the Purchasing staff and Sales department Relay information regarding delays in shipments and resolving them Arrange pickup schedule from local Vendors as required Check deliveries against demand to ensure product is needed Assists manufacturing personnel in expediting parts to completion Maintain accurate inventory levels for all assigned products monthly or more often if necessary Serve as order expeditor to ensure on time delivery of products. Distribute and maintain reports of necessary data to ensure effective communication within the department and other dependent personnel and departments Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
Qualifications/Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and a High School diploma/GED is required. 3+ years prior experience in a Production Planning or Scheduling role preferred Proficient in standard business application software and manufacturing / enterprise resource planning systems, D365 experience is a plus. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to learn customized software and products quickly. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities Have a general understanding of product and material specifications. Ability to apply standard industry practices and techniques in specific situations. Ability to manage small projects/programs with limited assistance from others.
