What work will you perform?
The International NVOCC Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations and customer service activities of Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) agents from the corporate headquarters support center and across the global agent network. This role ensures the efficient handling of international NVOCC shipments and compliance with company policies and procedures. The coordinator plays a key role in supporting agents and internal teams to maintain high service standards, optimize operational performance, and drive consistency throughout the international logistics network.
Essential Responsibilities:
Independently research ocean freight rates and recommend the most reliable and economical routing. Communicate with agents and/or customers and co-workers to facilitate the efficient movement of cargo. Interpret ocean carrier rate changes and as a result maintain internal rate quotation software as required as well as the input of new service contract rates. Execute the company compliance program with NVOCC agents concerning the shipment of hazardous materials, denied parties listing, import and export licensed cargo, FMC regulated tariff-filing issues. Train new NVOCC agents on Landstar Global Logistics’ international policies, procedures, and systems. Consult on initial shipment queries from agents including informed referrals to company qualified NVOCC agents if appropriate.
Required Minimum Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of experience in the transportation/logistics industry
1 year of customer support experience
Preferred Experience and Education:
1 year work experience in ocean transportation intermediary of VOCC (vessel operating common carrier) operations activities in the USA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of U.S. Administration Regulations (e.g. FMC, Hazmat, EAR) and other government agency requirements
Good working knowledge of domestic and international geography including countries, major cities, and seaports
Computer skills including MS Office applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to multi-task
