Expeditor Job Summary:
The Buyer / Expeditor plays a key role in ensuring timely delivery of goods and materials by coordinating between suppliers and internal stakeholders. This position is responsible for purchase order placement, tracking, follow-ups, and problem resolution related to delays or discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Place purchase orders in accordance with company policies and inventory requirements.
- Track and expedite open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm order status and resolve delays or issues.
- Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, and production teams to prioritize incoming shipments.
- Update ERP system with accurate delivery dates.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and escalate issues as needed.
- Manage changes to delivery schedules or order quantities in collaboration with internal departments.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to receive status updates on inbound shipments.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in a procurement, buying, or expediting role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication abilities.
Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Great Plains) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Detail-oriented with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with ISO, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma environments.
Experience working with international suppliers and freight forwarders.
Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS
CPIM, CSCP
) is a plus.
Work Environment:
The Buyer / Expeditor typically works in an office environment. Hybrid remote is available once training is completed.
