DESCRIPTION
St. Mark’s Surgical Center is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to join the business office team. After completing 30 days of full-time employment, full-time employees (30 or more hours per week) receive 12 days of paid time off and a wide range of low-cost healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, life, and vision. The position is Monday through Thursday. A summary of the duties is below: Schedule all surgical cases and coordinate surgical volume with outside surgery schedulers at least one week in advance. Arranges patients’ surgical times through the computer. Works with various parameters, such as block schedules, average case times, etc. Coordinate schedule with Clinical Director for preferred schedule lineup. Ensures that the ASC has all the required paperwork related to surgery, including the patient authorization, MD orders, H&P orders, Lens orders, patient insurance cards, demographic data, and all other related data. Communicate with MD offices on all scheduling issues, deadlines, and scheduling problems. Alerts the business office manager to issues or concerns from MD offices regarding scheduling conflicts. Maintains surgeon vacation/time-off schedules in the CRM System. Front Desk Check-in and Insurance Verification Coverage can be expected at times. Participates in process improvement as needed. Additional projects as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- ASC Health care experience preferred
- Experience with insurance verification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology as well as ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
- Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Work under limited supervision with the ability to understand and meet department productivity standards.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
- Strong understanding of healthcare plan terminology and benefits
