Job Description
Surgery Scheduler Eye Consultants of Savannah 16741 Highway 67, Statesboro, GA 30458 Eye Consultants of Savannah is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for full time, day, on-site position in our Statesboro office. Job Summary Responsible for assisting the surgeons in the scheduling of surgical procedures for patients while providing the hospital and ambulatory surgery centers, facility patient financial services, anesthesiologists, and other required entities with required information to complete the surgical scheduling process. Essential Functions Completes the scheduling process by coordinating surgery department (hospital or ambulatory surgery center) and physician offices’ needs. This includes communicating with the physician to assure scheduling system is accurate: ensuring the schedule is completed in a timely manner ahead of surgery date; documenting block release times for block utilization reports. Thoroughly reviews preparation for the procedure with patient along with answering any questions the patient has regarding the procedure. Sends any required prescriptions to the correct pharmacy. Verifies patent’s insurance and estimates the cost of the procedure based on the patient’s deductible. Collects insurance deductibles, pre-procedure payments and sets up payment plans within the financial system. Completes all required documentation and enters notes or alerts in the EHR system as needed. Requests medical clearance prior to scheduling. Schedules surgery and follow-up visits. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
College Coursework Required:
Medical Technology. Experience Minimum of 3 years
Required:
Related experience in a healthcare setting or three years progressive healthcare administrative experience.
Required:
Previous experience in a surgical ambulatory care or acute care setting and/or a scheduling position.
Preferred:
Experience in ophthalmology. Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients and staff. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT codes. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Exemplary customer service skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications. Experience with scheduling, practice management and EMR systems. Detail-oriented and good problem-solving skills. Working Conditions Lifting Consistently operates computer and other office equipment. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work. Environmental Conditions Predominantly operates in an office environment. Mental/Visual Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
