  • Job Summary
  • The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the physician’s schedule including pre-operative consultations and post-operative follow-up visits. Successful Surgery Scheduling Coordinators are adept at multi-tasking, communicating and anticipating the needs of the physician and patients.
  • Duties
  • Communicate via phone, fax and email with patients, referring physician offices, and/or hospital admitting department with a professional, courteous manner
  • Verify insurance information, and obtain pre-authorization and pre-certifications prior to surgery and other procedures.
  • Counsels patients pre-operatively regarding their potential financial obligations and provides education about insurance coverage.
  • Assists with setting up payment plans
  • Collect and submit payment for surgical procedures and other office visits
  • Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of information
  • Schedules pre-operative tests and blood work, operating room time and post-operative follow-up encounters.
  • Assist with medical administrative tasks as needed
  • Requirements
  • 2 Years of experience verifying insurance and eligibility
  • Experience in a healthcare setting such as a dental office, medical office, or similar environment is preferred
  • Proficiency in medical terminology
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients
