MACHINE ESTIMATOR
(MASTER
PLANNER/SCHEDULER
) Position Mission/Summary The Machine Estimator & Production Planner is responsible for preparing machine cost estimates, order specifications and coordination of machine shipments for the Packaging Machinery Division (PMD).
As a Machine Estimator & Production Planner you will successfully represent the Packaging Machinery Division (PMD) of GPI in interactions primarily with internal customers, suppliers, and other GPI employees and occasionally with external customers and suppliers. You will initiate and maintain long-term relationships with various functional groups with daily interactions with Product Owners, Project Managers, engineering and manufacturing groups. You will work within company policies and objectives in a focused way to serve customers satisfactorily and profitably. The aptitude to be self-driven and ability to be self-sufficient to fulfill the requirements of the position is essential. Primary Position Responsibilities Preparation of machine estimates/quotations to include: Work to ensure that machine inquiry specifications (data sheets) are complete/adequate to move into the estimating phase
Estimate machine costs to be used to provide quotation to GPI commercial groups Costs will include material and labor costs
Estimates will be based on evaluation of specifications and assignment of associated costs ‘Standard’ machine estimated to be completed by estimator based on knowledge of machines, machine components and labor with a reliance on historical data
‘Custom’ and ‘Development’ machines will require working closely with other functional groups (Product Owners, Engineers and Manufacturing)
Estimate documentation and distribution to be coordinated with Commercial Group Work with Product Owners to Calibrate standard cost model for improving Drive process improvement to increase speed and accuracy estimating process Participate in the order entry process as well as the planning and scheduling process as needed Coordinate machine shipments; establish method and cost of shipping
Analyze project post mortems, prepare summary of costs and provide recommendations for improvement
Coordinate return of used equipment and evaluate and recommend disposition
Support Machinery Sales Reps including, but not limited to, obtaining technical machine specs, floor plans and assisting with customer expectation documents
Backup other members of the department as needed
Coordinate product and carton samples and test quantities with internal and/or external customers. Position Requirements Post-secondary degree in a technically related discipline and/or business highly desired
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability to interpret engineering layouts and data; mechanical engineering experience preferred
Experience with machinery estimating, and/or project cost & schedule estimating Ability to plan and execute, establish procedures, problem-solve and prioritize
Must be a self-starter, proactive and possess strong decision making skills
Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively to all levels of the organization
Strong organizational skills, detail orientation and accuracy
Ideally, demonstrated experience supporting a sales team
Experience with SAP, Excel and general database knowledge preferred
