FGCA Operations Coordinator Hagar’s House 3401 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 : Interviews begin May 1. ROLE First Grace Community Alliance (FGCA) Operations Coordinator is a part-time, bilingual (Spanish/English) position. The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with a wide variety of tasks at First Grace Community Alliance, namely providing administrative, programmatic, and logistical support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of Project Ishmael, our pro-bono immigration legal program for children, and Hagar’s House, our trans-inclusive home for families and individuals. While the hours for the Operations Coordinator will be set, the roles during the hours will vary each day, depending on needs.
The position will include:
30-60 minutes of morning shift duties at Hagar’s House each day Providing resource coordination assistance to people calling in or walking in in need of housing, immigration, or other assistance Office coordination in the Hagar’s House, Project Ishmael, and FGCA offices Administrative support for volunteer programs, donor management and gratitude, and fundraising Various short-term projects as assigned, such as: Social Media and newsletter content Supporting with housing or legal needs that arise on a given day Updating resources and client files Researching grants and/or putting together data or narratives for grants Supporting with event coordination, including but not limited to GiveNola, Hagar’s House Party, and our annual Angel Tree Other tasks as needed or assigned
REQUIRED
Excellent written and oral communication in Spanish and English Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft programs, Google programs, social media, and Canva. Ability to easily learn donor management and case management software. Experience advancing FGCA community values of social justice, including but not limited to racial justice, immigration justice, transgender & LGBTQ+ rights, language access, and environmental justice. Ability to implement community living guidelines at Hagar’s House and support day-to-day details while also thinking big picture and keeping the needs of a whole community in mind. Commitment to working with a team of current staff members, residents, and clients who are diverse in race, gender, sexuality, ability, and experience. Competence in communicating and joyfully interacting with others of diverse cultural, geographic, and economic backgrounds in a professional and compassionate manner, including interacting with individuals experiencing substantial levels of emotional, physical, or other hardship.
PREFERRED
Life or work experience in housing or immigrant justice Experience living or working in an intentional or residential community Experience and patience with consensus and group decision-making processes Experience working with children Ability transport oneself for offsite work needs: A current driver’s license or openness to riding a bike or taking RTA for organizational needs Familiarity with and love for the work of First Grace Community Alliance or our partner organizations
