This job acts as asupervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individualsand cohorts of patients within a unit. Evaluates nursinginterventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising careprovided by the healthcare team of licensed nurses, registerednurses, and patient care technicians. Serves as a resource to stafffor patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursinginterventions and facilitates problem resolution throughcollaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. Incollaboration with the immediate leader and other supervisorystaff, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses and evaluatingstaff performance for team members within their span of control. Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Graduate of an accredited schoolof nursing. Bachelor’s Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required forall Ochsner Magnet Facilities. Experience Required
  • 1 year ofrelevant experience as a registered nurse OR 2 years of experienceas an LPN in an acute care setting. Preferred
  • 2 years of relevantexperience as a registered nurse. Certifications Required
  • Currentregistered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. Basic LifeSupport (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Knowledge Skillsand Abilities (KSAs)
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Proficient inindicators of operational success such as unit productivity,expense management, regulatory requirements, and qualityindicators.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, andweb-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills and ability to present information clearly andprofessionally to varying levels of individuals throughout thepatient care process.
  • Excellent organizational skills and abilityto routinely manage priorities and projects involving multipleconstituencies.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability towork with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and always remain objectiveand professional. Job Duties
  • Organizes, plans, supervises, andprovides coordinated patient care within the unit.
  • Supervises,develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses andtechnicians.
  • Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols andclinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice.
  • Manages conflict on assigned shifts and collaborates with othersupervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed.
  • Collaborates with patient quality, safety, and experienceleadership and promotes patient quality, safety, and experienceprocesses.
  • Supports daily clinical operations on the unit byensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and appropriate clinicalsupplies and resources are available for patient care.
  • Adaptsbehavior to the specific patient population, including but notlimited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to thepatient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
