Job Description
Master Planner/Scheduler (Supply Chain/MedDev) Trustwell Talent Group Littleton, MA On behalf of our client, we’re searching for an experienced senior production planner/master scheduler who is a senior-level professional responsible for managing and optimizing the production schedule for standard manufacturing operations, ensuring high efficiency and on-time delivery of products. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position involves working closely with the rest of the procurement team and production to balance overall factory production demands. The Production Planner III works cross-functionally with procurement, engineering, production, and quality teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, drive continuous improvement, and resolve complex scheduling challenges. In this position, you will leverage your extensive experience to mentor junior planners, streamline planning processes, and align production strategies with organizational objectives.
Essential Functions:
Lead the creation, maintenance, and optimization of detailed production schedules, factoring in customer demand, resource availability, and inventory constraints. Collaborate with other planning team members to balance priorities between service-related needs and regular manufacturing demands. Continuously monitor and adjust schedules to accommodate fluctuations in demand, material shortages, ensuring minimal downtime. Coordinate with procurement, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure materials, resources, and labor are aligned with production requirements. Communicate scheduling updates, changes, and priorities to production supervisors, ensuring clarity and adherence to deadlines. Serve as the key point of contact for escalation and resolution of scheduling conflicts, ensuring alignment across departments. Oversee the monitoring of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to maintain optimal inventory levels while preventing shortages or excess. Partner with buyers and planners to coordinate procurement activities, aligning materials availability with production schedules. Evaluate and implement strategies to improve inventory accuracy, reduce carrying costs, and enhance overall supply chain responsiveness. Analyze current and projected production capacity based on forecasted demand, product mix, and staffing requirements. Proactively identify potential bottlenecks or resource constraints; develop mitigation plans to maintain timely and efficient production flow. Champion process improvements to enhance capacity utilization, minimize lead times, and maximize throughput. Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, throughput, resource utilization, and schedule adherence. Prepare and present regular reports on production progress, highlighting any risks or deviations from plan and proposing corrective actions. Use data-driven insights to identify trends, forecast future needs, and support strategic decision-making within the operations team. Lead the resolution of complex production-related issues, including supply chain disruptions, resource conflicts, or unexpected delays. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop contingency plans that ensure minimal impact on production targets. Serve as a subject matter expert for resolving advanced planning challenges requiring advanced analytical or negotiation skills. Initiate and drive process improvement projects that streamline production planning, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency. Partner with engineering and quality teams to refine manufacturing workflows, aligning with lean principles and best practices. Mentor and guide junior planners in scheduling techniques, inventory management, and problem-solving methodologies.
Experience:
7+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated industry. Demonstrated success in managing complex production schedules, optimizing resources, and meeting on-time delivery targets. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, inventory management software, and procurement software. Strong background in forecasting, inventory optimization and demand management. Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and production planning software.
Education, Training, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, business administration, procurement, or a related field.
Skills and Competencies:
Advanced understanding of production planning principles, inventory management, and capacity analysis. Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building cross-functional relationships and driving teams to meet production goals. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to forecast demand, evaluate performance metrics, and identify areas for process improvement. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail and quality standards. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (such as Rootstock and/or NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Effective negotiation and communication skills.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time. Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc. Typical office environment. Must be able to walk around the factory floor.

$90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
