Your skill and experience will support community members as they produce local programs, live television, and streaming radio. Community media is the only place where residents can access cutting edge equipment to make media that matters to their neighborhoods. You will be part of a small and mighty team dedicated to promoting the voices of Somerville’s underserved and under-represented communities. Key Responsibilities Facilitate the success of community member productions Review, approve, and monitor progress on project proposals by community members Mentor community members engaged in productions, providing guidance, encouragement, and technical help as needed Create production opportunities for community members to join in production efforts to support their growth and engagement Coordinate production needs of nonprofit, government, and business communities Create opportunities for external agencies to create community-facing media Coordinate and provide event videography services for community-facing events Coordinate and provide commercial media production services to businesses Maintain equipment and facilities that support production, including troubleshooting and planning facility upgrades Participate in annual capital planning process for equipment investment General Responsibilities Participate in all scheduled staff and other meetings Participate in weekly/monthly supervision meetings Share staffing of reception desk hours Teach one public evening course per quarter based on field/specialty Prepare reports as assigned Other duties as assigned Required Experience and Skills Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a related field Television, radio, video and/or multimedia production experience Leadership and communication skills Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills Project management skills Prior experience in a nonprofit and/or community-serving organizations is highly valued Supervision Relationship The Production Coordinator is supervised by the Executive Director. The Executive Director will provide necessary initial training and ongoing development opportunities. Employees are reviewed twice per year based on progress towards annual goals and competencies that are synthesized together with the supervisor. Schedule This position requires 20hrs/week and is expected to be on premises 3-4 days per week Occasional weekend and evening hours as required for event coverage. Somerville Media Center is closed on state and federal holidays. SMC is closed on the Friday following Thanksgiving and open on Veterans Day. SMC is closed Saturday through Monday when a holiday falls on Monday. Wages and Benefits The Production Coordinator receives an annual salary of $25,000 to $27,000 per year and is eligible for the following benefits: Accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation time per year. Accrue 10 paid sick days and 2 paid personal days per year. May immediately contribute to a voluntary tax-deferred retirement savings plan. Approved professional development costs will be covered by SMC.
