This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Mill (CCF), located in Columbus, Mississippi. CCF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business. We are a converting operation that produces specialty fibers used in the production of diapers and other absorbent personal care products.
The Job You Will Perform:
This position provides leadership and support to the Raw Materials Business Unit. Equipment in the Raw Materials area consists of two radial cranes, debarking drum, infeed operations, chipper, linear chip storage, screen-house, chipping line and associated conveyors, 3 chip dumps, 2 hog fuel dumps, associated feed systems, and all area rolling stock. The OMC is the link between department production and maintenance units. They interact with mill operations, maintenance, and management on a day-to-day basis while performing their duties. This position is part of the Raw Materials leadership team, and reports directly to the Raw Materials Area Process Manager (APM). Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Woodyard OMC will work closely with a variety of different areas throughout the mill including operations, maintenance, technical, and management. The Woodyard OMC owns the manufacturing work flow process in the area, with three primary areas of responsibility: Manufacturing Work Systems (MWS) Facilitate all Manufacturing Work System (MWS) meetings
- daily, planning meetings, weekly scheduling, outage planning
Own MWS metrics for the area, deliver Pacesetter quality performance or better
Manage SAP-PM notification review, approval, prioritization, and scheduling
Facilitate activities necessary to execute the maintenance daily schedule (e.
g., lockouts, hot work permits, confined space permits, etc.) while considering the area’s maintenance budget
Review and manage work backlogs
Translate RCFA corrective actions into scheduled work
Act as gatekeeper for all break-in work
Set expectations for precision maintenance
- Mechanical (MPM) and Instrumentation Electrical (IEPM) Outages Coordinate area’s field outages and annual outages
Develop field day and annual outage bar chart schedules
Responsibilities as the
Lockout Coordinator Basic Care:
Modify and update basic care rounds Audit and track completion of basic care rounds
Own basic care audits In addition, the Woodyard OMC will do the following: Support Raw Materials department safety goals
Maintain the Lock-Out and Confined Space Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including annual and periodic reviews5Clearly communicate with maintenance and production team members
Support the Raw Materials department as APM relief and weekend duty coverage
Leadership, including team member engagement, diversity, employee development in a non-union environment.
Use
GPS / GMTI
principles to ensure a highly trained workforce knowledgeable of the process and equipment; ensure that training systems are in place and utilize to develop the workforce
Utilize the MOC process
Understand and promote Manufacturing Excellence (ME) tools and processes
Support 5S programs
The Skills You Will Bring:
Required Experience:
The successful candidate will have at least three (5) years of experience in a fully integrated pulp and paper mill. Previous Pulp or Paper experience and First Line Leader (FLL) management experience are highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience is required. Must be experienced using a computer and skilled in word processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), SAP business systems, and other databases. Position level may vary based on experience.
