The Team You’ll Work WithThe Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) develops policies and programs, provides training and prevention education, conducts research and evaluations, performs community outreach, and operates the New York City Family Justice Centers and community-based programs. We collaborate with City agencies and community stakeholders to ensure access to inclusive services for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (GBV). GBV can include intimate partner and family violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
The Problems You’ll SolveThe Operations Associate will serve as a member of ENDGBV’s Fiscal Operations Team. Under the general direction of the Senior Budget Director, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the Operations Associate will support procurement for goods, services, and human service contracts across ENDGBV’s community program portfolio. They will work closely with our Family Justice Center and Community Initiatives teams, city agency partners, and community-based providers to ensure the timely facilitation of the procurement process and effective communication with all relevant parties. The Operations Associate will also be involved in programmatic or fiscal-relatedmatters, as assigned, to provide services to various New York City communities in support of ENDGBV’s mission. Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs difficult work in the preparation of planning documents required for funding various goods and services across ENDGBV’s community programs and vendor portfolio
- Support procurement efforts for FJC goods and services by partnering with DCAS and DSS procurement liaisons
- Communicate frequently with agency and community partners to monitor all steps of the procurement process for goods, services, and human service contracts and provide ongoing technical assistance
- Evaluate, document, and report provider performance in Agency and City systems
- Ensure plans, services, and actions are in accordance with Procurement Policy Board (PPB) rules, the NYC Charter guidelines, Local Law requirements, and/or any other mandates.
- Serve as a liaison to the Agency’s program support divisions, including the Agency’s Chief Contracting Office (ACCO), Office of Budget Administration (OBA), the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) by answering questions clarifying programmatic and funding requirements related to complex contracting and fiscal actions, in order to ensure compliance with NYC Procurement Policy Board Rules and Agency procedures to facilitate the timely delivery of contracted goods and services.
- Other duties as requiredAbout YouThe ideal candidate has prior experience working or interning in NYC government and in Gender-Based Violence, and is self-motivated and experienced with superb writing, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
The position requires an individual who enjoys substantial responsibility and thrives in a fast paced, high-pressure environment with significant vendor interaction.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, Finance, Criminal Justice, Urban Studies, Political Science, or a related field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
- You have strong proficiency in Excel and Word is required
- You have strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, and writing skills
- You have strong communication skills and the ability to converse professionally with executive, programmatic, and administrative staffing of an organization.
- You have the ability to solve problems, while balancing competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines; and
- You know how to maintain an enthusiastic work ethic, in addition to being able to work well with others in a diverse team environment.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.
