Political Science Full Job Description Job Overview:
An elected official in Westchester is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Scheduler to manage and coordinate their day-to-day calendar, travel, and event logistics. The Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring the elected official’s time is strategically aligned with legislative, community, and media priorities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills and a passion for public service.
Key Responsibilities:
Calendar Management :
Maintain and manage a complex, dynamic schedule including meetings, events, briefings, and travel.
Event Coordination :
Oversee logistics for public appearances, meetings, and community events; prepare briefing materials and background memos as needed.
Stakeholder Liaison :
Serve as the point of contact for internal staff, community organizations, government agencies, and constituents requesting meetings or appearances.
Travel Planning :
Coordinate transportation and lodging for in-state and out-of-state travel; prepare itineraries and ensure logistical readiness.
Strategic Planning :
Prioritize scheduling requests based on strategic value and alignment with legislative and political goals.
Communication :
Work closely with the communications, legislative, and constituent services teams to ensure seamless coordination across departments.
Confidentiality :
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in scheduling, executive assistance, or administrative coordination—experience in a political or governmental setting strongly preferred. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask and remain composed in fast-paced or high-pressure situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Google Calendar, and project management tools. Flexible schedule with the ability to support occasional evening and weekend events.
Preferred:
Familiarity with the structure and functions of local/state government. Experience working on a campaign or in an elected official’s office.
