Scheduling Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Scheduling Engineer to develop schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities. The successful candidate will revise and review project schedules with the project team and monitor and track progress against the defined schedule. Responsibilities Develop a thorough understanding of work breakdown structure for large or smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities. Adhere to company and scheduling policies, practices, procedures, and activities as outlined in the ‘Scheduling Playbook’. Build relationships with project stakeholders for effective communication of the overall project plan and to support project performance. Collaborate with project team members to confirm Contract Item List (CIL), develop Required On Job (ROJ) dates, and review the Procurement Schedule. Develop project schedules based on Critical Path Method (CPM) logic-generated baseline schedules using scheduling software. Review and recommend scheduling, delivery, logistics, and Trade staffing decisions. Prepare detailed schedules in collaboration with various project departments. Engage with the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team to align and coordinate schedules and models. Define project schedule metrics and monitor critical path activities to achieve the forecasted end-date. Contribute to project schedule dashboard updates. Create target comparison models and look-ahead schedules, provide progress updates, and develop recovery strategies. Incorporate the Last Planner System into schedules and revise schedules based on Pull Plan reviews. Identify events impacting project schedule and develop time impact analysis. Conduct project site progress walks to capture scheduling progress data. Generate scheduling reports and summaries based on client requests or needs. Provide support and guidance for project end-users to develop proficiency in scheduling software. Collaborate with Business Development (BD) and Marketing teams to develop proposal scheduling activities. Develop and update cost and resource-loaded schedules as needed. Apply continuous improvement methodology to daily tasks and improve Scheduling operations. Essential Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field. 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with large construction projects (>$50 million). Proficient in scheduling software applications such as Oracle Primavera P6. Knowledge of scheduling comparison tools such as Acumen Fuse and Change Inspector. Understanding of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices. Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. Familiarity with earned value concepts and using construction resources for productivity validation. Ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines. Strong process and analytical skills for decision-making. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Professional interpersonal skills for relationship building with project stakeholders. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer and data entry skills, including Microsoft Office and collaborative tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction positions such as Field Engineer or Assistant Superintendent. Knowledge of estimating to support project schedule development. Ability to quickly develop understanding of continuous improvement methodologies. Work Environment The role primarily involves working on construction sites, offering hybrid work flexibility.
