Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Darla Moore School of Business invites applications for a full-time Academic Scheduler and Business Intelligence Analyst. Within the scope of the Darla Moore School of Business’ objectives and plans, the Academic Scheduler and Business Intelligence Analyst will manage and process the compilation and reporting of accurate data. Facilitates internal decision-making with numerous internal and external constituencies. Provides ad hoc reports to the Dean and Associate Deans. Manages the physical plant and space utilization requirements for the Darla Moore School of Business. These responsibilities are integral to the efficient operation of the Darla Moore School of Business. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials N/A Preferred Qualifications Understanding scheduling at USC. Demonstrated ability for developing software applications. Fluency with all Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel and Word. Prefer knowledge of USC policies and procedures (or equivalent non-USC experience), state and Federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to business activities of the Darla Moore School of Business. Banner, PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, USC Finance Intranet and/or USC experience in related areas. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of physical plant facilities and space allocation. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Presentation and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate concepts, terminology, and practices. Ability to plan and manage projects. Ability to advise department chairs and faculty concerning schedule development. Ability to ensure the School’s course offerings are entered accurately for each semester. Knowledge of blended learning models. Knowledge of curriculum approval processes for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Expertise in statistical reporting methods and the ability to assimilate large quantities of data into meaningful information. Expert knowledge of computer spreadsheet applications. Job Duties Job Duty Develop classroom space utilization models appropriate for different types of blended learning classes. Create models that allow for maximum utilization of instructional space, effective pedagogy, and efficient use of instructional resources. Encourage utilization of blending learning by marketing scheduling options to department chairs and faculty. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Coordinates collection of statistical data and presentation for assessment and accreditation. Collect and provide other data as needed for surveys and projects to accomplish the mission of DMSB. Coordinates 25Live scheduling software. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Manages the development, production, and maintenance of class schedules, including more than 700 course offerings in each major semester and over 300 courses each summer working under the direction of the Program Assessment Manager. Coordinates with DMSB administration, faculty, USC Registrar, and other USC colleges on course offerings. Enters all courses into Banner; updates schedules and enrollments; cross-referencing of instructors’ schedules, courses and locations; assignments of classrooms, appropriate utilization of space to ensure technology requirements for course curriculum are met. Critically reviews all requests to ensure maximum utilization of space and maximum earning capacity (when appropriate) for DMSB. Manage changes to the academic schedule for DMSB and communicate updates to relevant parties. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 45 Job Duty Develop communication material and training resources regarding course scheduling, space use policies and business analyst processes. Ensure staff in all units can engage in appropriate scheduling and program planning. Provides orientation to new faculty and update existing faculty and staff with the scheduling process. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5 Job Duty Work with the Program Assessment Manager to design and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that will support business operations growth and management. Create and maintain data models, databases and Dashboards to support data-driven decision-making. Develop business processes and workflows in a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate, Asana, Watermark modules, USC Data Warehouse and USC Finance Intranet.
