Part-Time Operations Specialist UIDP, Inc. 701 Gervais Street, Columbia, SC 29201 UIDP is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and resourceful part-time Operations Specialist to provide support across multiple areas of the organization. In this role, you will assist with day-to-day operational tasks and provide support to departments such as communications, membership, programs, events, and administration. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to help ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of UIDP initiatives. As a valued member of the UIDP team, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of organizational activities while supporting collaborations between leading innovation companies and top-tier research universities. The Operations Specialist will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and play a vital role in supporting the organization’s day-to-day functions. This position is responsible for ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and on time.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide administrative and operational support across departments, including communications, finance, programs, and administration. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the coordination and execution of organizational initiatives. Assist with daily operational tasks to ensure efficient workflow and smooth project implementation. Maintain and organize documents, records, and reports in shared systems. Support internal communications and scheduling, including meeting coordination. Contribute to process improvements and help streamline operational procedures. Engage with UIDP members and partners in a professional and service-oriented manner. Assist with data entry, document preparation, and internal tracking systems. Participate in collaborative projects with innovation-focused companies and leading research institutions. Perform other duties as assigned to support UIDP’s mission and goals.

Qualifications-required:

2-3 years of professional experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrating strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , with strong skills in Word and Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint, and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Drive, Box, Smartsheet, or similar platforms) is a plus. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills , with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities , with sound independent judgment and the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team , demonstrating accountability, initiative, and dependability. Exceptional organizational and time management skills , with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Detail-oriented and results-driven , with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of work. Comfortable navigating a dynamic work environment and contributing to continuous process improvement. A positive, service-oriented attitude and a strong desire to contribute to a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.

LOCATION

This position is based in Columbia, South Carolina (USA) and operates out of UIDP’s downtown Columbia office. The role requires an on-site presence for 15 to 30 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate both organizational needs and the selected candidate’s availability. COMPENSATION

This part-time, non-exempt position offers a competitive hourly rate of $20.00 per hour, which reflects the value we place on our team members’ contributions.
