Job Purpose Operate and repair farm equipment while assisting with cropping, livestock herds and supervising student workers. Assist with events at Hyder-Burks Ag Pavilion. Tennessee Tech is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Essential Functions Supervise student workers in carrying out normal farm work chores. Operate farm tractors and related equipment. Conduct and/or assist with planting, cultivating and harvesting all crops such as corn, soybeans and hay. Provide and/or assist with proper health care of all animals on Tech Farm including but not limited to beef, sheep and swine herds including feeding, vaccinating, breeding and birthing. Feed livestock and perform essential farm duties on some weekends. Repair farm equipment and buildings. Properly apply pesticides, herbicides and insecticides. Assist on some occasions with events at Hyder-Burks Ag Pavilion. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience in an agricultural setting. Ability to be versatile and adaptable. Skills in working with the public, trade skills, and agricultural skills while providing a safe work environment for the TTU community. Must have experience pulling a trailer 16′ or longer. Must have experience driving a tractor. Preferred Qualifications Trade school background. Experience with farm machinery. Experience with application of crop systems. Experience with livestock. Work Hours Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Some weekends.
Compensation and Benefits Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 5.
