Overview
Job Summary
This position is responsible for coordinating the care of patients for a designated service throughout the continuum of care; acts as
liaison by facilitatingmunication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains
routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources; preforms clinic duties such as
maintaining charts, scheduling tests, preparing exam rooms, rooming patients and making return appointments.
Responsibilities
The CMA / Scheduler II will be working in a

Multi-Specialty Practice:

Neurology – Epilepsy, Stroke and Rheumatology clinics. He/she
is responsible for rooming patients, lab blood draws, returning phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, and other necessary
tasks that facilitate efficient flow of clinic operations andmunication among the Physicians, the patient/patient families and
clinic. He/she will help each physician with all aspects of the patient’s health.

  • This position is responsible for coordinating the care
    of patients for a designated service throughout the continuum of care
  • Acts as liaison by facilitatingmunication and
    coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and
    coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources
  • Coordinates patient care with responsibilities including fielding phone
    calls,municating test results, prescription refill requests, physicianmunications and scheduling of appointments,pleting patient referrals and authorizations for elective procedures
  • Demonstrates a highmitment to excellence in service
    and quality through interactions with team members, with faculty, staff, referring physicians, patients and their families while
    focusing on service culture and continuously striving to align with the BMG mission and vision
  • Prepares and maintains exam
    rooms, patient charts, reports and records; assists with patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office
  • Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting andpletes clinical tasks, which may include obtaining vital signs, conducting
    EKGs,pleting a phlebotomy and verifying medications
  • Prepares for office hours by doing tasks, such as obtaining charts,
    scheduling tests and preparing exam rooms
  • May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications per standing
    orders and department guidelines
  • May administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioner (this includes
    vaccines and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections)
  • Directs patient flow, assists with special procedures/treatments andpletes requisitions
  • Routes phone messages, patient questions and telephonemunications to appropriate personnel
  • Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner
  • Answers basic questions from patient/family regarding
    treatments, diagnosis and procedures
  • Monitors supply inventory, ensuring adequate supplies, equipment or garments are
    available and that theyply with regulations
  • Maintains required HIPAApliance, maintains skillspetencies and
    participates in in-services, staff programs, continuing education and cross-training programs.
  • Complies with OSHA, state and
    federal regulatory sources/standards
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical oues
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Information:

Interactivemunication skills with ability to work with physicians, patients, families, significant others and support staff. Strong interpersonalanizational and telephone skills.

  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, fundamentals ofmedical terminology.
  • Scheduling appointments, verifying insurances, obtaining authorizations for elective procedures, and understanding of the registration process.
  • Skill inmunicating clearly and effectively using Standard English in written, oral
    and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency.

Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary
to perform job duties.

Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or nursing school
  • Experience
    Two or more years of Medical Assistant experience
