Shipping/Receiving Clerk B.R. Williams Trucking, Inc. 5360 Commerce Boulevard East, Mobile, AL 36619 Role Description The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a key role in the daily flow of goods into and out of the warehouse. This position is responsible for verifying, documenting, and processing all incoming and outgoing shipments with accuracy and efficiency. The role supports overall warehouse operations by coordinating with internal teams and external carriers, ensuring proper labeling and inventory control, and maintaining clear and organized shipping and receiving records to support timely and accurate order fulfillment. This position reports to the Warehouse Operations Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and sign in/out drivers while verifying shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy.
  • Assign dock doors for inbound and outbound shipments based on load requirements and dock availability.
  • Prepare, review, and process Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other related shipping/receiving documents.
  • Match inbound shipments to packing slips and coordinate trailer movements in the drop lot.
  • Generate billing for accessorial charges as needed, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Release inbound and outbound orders in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to initiate warehouse processing.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse, transportation, and customer service teams regarding shipment updates, delays, or special instructions.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure proper filing of all shipping and receiving documents.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and complete tasks in a timely and compliant manner. Required Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in maintaining records, verifying shipments, and processing documentation.
  • Proficient in basic computer functions and data entry, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional warehouse teams.
  • Proven ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize tasks under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge of shipping documentation, such as Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and carrier paperwork, is strongly preferred.
  • Forklift certification is preferred, with a willingness to obtain if not currently certified. Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a shipping and receiving or warehouse role.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
  • Experience with certification operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment is a plus or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in a customer-focused distribution or logistics environment is a plus. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for prolonged periods.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic warehouse environment, which may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and odors.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as required to meet operational demands.
  • Safely operate machinery within the warehouse (forklift, sweeper, pallet jacks, scissor lift, etc.
