SUMMARY:
We are seeking a service driven individual to join our Team. The Shipping & Receiving/Shop Helper will be responsible for the interior and exterior maintenance of our facility. This position also entails pickup and delivery of emergency service vehicles to and from customer facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Shipping & Receiving:
Package goods for shipment and coordinate with appropriate carriers. Complete all the required shipping documentation and records. Receive inbound materials; verify contents against packing lists and purchase orders. File and follow up on freight damage and shortage claims. Perform cycle counts and support inventory control. Operate forklifts and hand trucks to move, load, and unload materials. Maintain accurate daily inventory logs, perform scanning, and ensure proper storage of materials. Communicate with vendors regarding damaged or incorrect orders.
Shop Helper:
Assist shop staff with light assembly, prep work or material handling. Wash and detail company and emergency vehicles weekly; wax monthly. Maintain interior and exterior facility cleanliness, including trash removal, bathroom cleaning, mowing, weeding, and irrigation system upkeep. Pick up and deliver supplies, parts, and equipment locally and long-distance. Assist in organizing and maintaining parts room, shelves and work areas.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required or preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. CDL preferred (not required). Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Forklift experience preferred (not required). Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player. Experience with basic computer applications is required (e.g., inventory software, email, spreadsheets).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Provide and wear steel toe safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-18 or equivalent safety standards at all times while on the job site. Supply and maintain your own set of basic hand tools. Comply with all safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality. Adhere to the standard hours of work: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with extended hours as needed based on job demands or project schedules.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse operations, or general maintenance preferred.
LANGUAGE WRITING SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to create standard correspondence. Proficient verbal communication skills, in English, are required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variances in standardized specifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently Standing, walking, bending, and crouching for extended periods Use of hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, and parts Working in a garage/shop environment with exposure to noise, grease, fumes, and changing temperatures Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or carts.
