Full Job Description Position Information:
The shipping and receiving will have the following responsibilities: Answer parts phones when front counter is overloaded. Count, weigh, or measure items in incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading invoices, orders, and other records. Affix labels on packed cartons. Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto containers Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, or select preassembles containers. Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, note damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and receiving platform to storage or work area. Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. Receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment and be designated Returned Goods, Receiving Clerk. Receive unsold products returned by Parts Driver. Working Conditions This is a physically demanding position. Must be able to lift at least 40lbs. Will move throughout the parts shelves all day, reaching and climbing to obtain parts from inventory. Will stand six to eight hours during a shift at customer counter, of which the surface is 44 inches from the floor. When delivering parts to the service department will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
