Job Description
Shipping and Receiving 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Gainesville, GA 30504 Monday- Friday with possible OT 7am-3:30pm
- Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare items for shipment by comparing identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Coordinate with Project Engineering to determine the appropriate method of shipment for customer equipment and finished goods being shipped to customers by utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
- Package items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding such that the goods and/or equipment being shipped will be adequately protected from damage during shipping and handling.
- Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.
- Stamp, stencil, or affix identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and communicate discrepancies to Purchaser and Accounts Payable.
- Route received items to appropriate departments.
- Cut and release bar stock material as indicated on the cut ticket supplied by Project Engineering.
- Monitor inventory of shipping materials and supplies and coordinate with Purchaser as necessary for replenishment.
- Operate fork truck, handtruck, or overhead crane to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.
