Shipping Attendant 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 18695 Greenleaf Drive, Saegertown, PA 16433 SUMMARY Shipping Attendant performs assigned duties involving preparation, expediting and dispatching of shipments, items and products to be shipped. Also receives and checks in raw materials, purchased stock and finished item; check against order; visually inspect; inform purchasing and manufacturing. Operate duties in accordance with shipping and receiving specifications and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform various assigned duties having to do with the preparation, expediting and dispatching of shipments. Must know packing and crating requirements necessary to ensure safe transportation for domestic and/or export shipments. May need to operate wood working equipment to construct wooden crates for shipping various products. Prepare labels with customers’ name and destination, handling instructions, etc., and apply to crates and cartons to conform with standard instructions and procedures. Prepare bills of lading and shipping reports. Contact truck carriers to make pickups. Must know proper means of shipping (post, air, overseas, etc.) Requisition crating lumber, shipping containers, supplies, etc., required for shipments. Responsible for the receiving and check-in of raw materials, purchased stock and finished items, equipment, supplies and returned goods. Visually inspect goods received for damage from handling and transit, and process damage report. Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations. Perform specified equipment operation maintenance and cleaning. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Previous shipping experience is a plus. Requires the ability to operate computer equipment and packing machines. Close attention and care are required to prevent damage to complex and expensive machine, tools, and parts and to prevent injury to self and others.
