This position encompasses the entire project lifecycle—from pre-construction estimating and procurement to execution, monitoring, and close-out—as the essential connection between field operations, engineering, procurement, and the client. The perfect candidate is both experienced in the field and financially savvy, capable of managing teams, preparing detailed bids, leading project groups, and delivering high-quality, profitable outcomes. This role is essential for connecting on-site execution with bidding strategy, customer needs, and the program’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to assign tasks and responsibilities. Monitor progress within the project, identify potential roadblocks, and implement effective solutions. Ensure adherence to industry’s best practices, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards. Prepare project budgets and cost estimates, tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle. Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions. Continuously assess project risks and make data-driven decisions to overcome challenges. Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen circumstances and maintain project momentum. Delegate tasks, set clear expectations, and guide team members. Conduct regular performance evaluations, mentorship, and professional development initiatives.
Customer & Contract Management:
Maintain proactive, solution-oriented communication with clients to manage expectations and resolve issues. Provide contract administration support, including compliance, unit price tracking, and billing verification. Support relationship-building with engineering partners, vendors, and subcontractors to streamline proposal and execution efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field. 5+ years of experience in utility construction, project management, or estimating (IOU, co-op, or municipal projects preferred). In-depth knowledge of electric utility systems, equipment, and infrastructure. Demonstrated success in managing financials, Proficient in Excel, and familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and estimating platforms (e.g., B2W, Heavy Bid), Schedule and change control, involving the project sponsor and stakeholders. Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools like P6, and techniques. Excellent Customer and Executive Management relationship skills Ability to make informed decisions under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and facilitate focused, cross-functional meetings and calls. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and environmental standards in the electric utility industry Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly to job sites and customer locations.
Work Environment & Travel:
Hybrid role with office-based, remote, and field responsibilities. Must be able to traverse a job site. This role is expected to involve 30% travel.
