We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Bar Manager to lead our bar operations, elevate our beverage program, and help drive our continued growth and success.

Job Summary:

The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of bar operations at Starland Yard. This includes managing staff, curating the drink menu, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the bar runs smoothly and efficiently while staying aligned with our brand and guest expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management & Scheduling

• Manage bartenders, barbacks, and satellite bar staff
• Mediate inter-staff concerns and ensure a collaborative, respectful work environment
• Participate in hiring and training of bar staff
• Operate as Manager on Duty (MOD) during some shifts, overseeing the entire Starland Yard floor
• Work 2 or 3 bar shifts weekly

Bar Operations & Preparation:

• Ensure all prep is completed to par levels to set the team up for daily success
• Create prep lists and par sheets for consistency
• Oversee bar maintenance and address repair needs (internally or through external contractors)
• Coordinate and lead deep bar cleans every 1-2 months

Beverage Program Development:

• Curate and seasonally update the bar menu to reflect guest preferences and Starland Yard’s unique vibe
• Craft creative, high-quality cocktails and build consistent slushie recipes
• Manage and rotate a diverse draft beer selection

Inventory, Ordering & Finance:

• Analyze weekly inventory reports to guide purchasing decisions
• Manage and place weekly beverage orders
• Meet with distributors to explore and introduce new products
• Enter invoices and end-of-month inventory into accounting systems
• Map menu items in XtraChef for analytics and future inventory insights
• Update Untappd weekly with current draft list

Event & Guest Experience Support:

• Collaborate with distributors and events manager to support internal events
• Design and execute specialty cocktails for private events, fundraisers, and special occasions

Qualifications:

• 2+ years experience in bar management or a similar leadership role
• Strong knowledge of cocktail creation, beer/wine/spirits, and beverage trends
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Proficient in inventory systems and basic accounting software (experience with Excel, XtraChef and Untappd a plus)
• Ability to lead, inspire, and maintain a positive team culture
