Full Job Description Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for getting donated bikes into the warehouse, managing the flow of bikes through the refurbishment process, and maintaining an orderly and effective bike repair environment in the warehouse.

Organizational/Reporting Structure:

Reports to Director of Warehouse Operations. Works closely with volunteer hosts, volunteer coordinator, bike mechanics, and the executive board.

Job Tasks, Responsibilities, Accountabilities:

Work in the warehouse for 8 regularly scheduled hours per week (ex: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am – 2pm) . Remaining hours worked in the week can be done irregularly as needed and according to your personal availability. Work time exceeding 20 hours in one week requires pre approval from the Director of Warehouse Operations. Drive a box truck to a collection location, manage a group of volunteers to load the bikes into the truck, and then unload them into the warehouse. Perform initial bike triage to determine bikes that meet the requirements for repair and those that do not. Tag repairable bikes and log them into the bike inventory system. Move non-repairable bikes to an area for stripping of usable parts and scrap metal processing. Organize bikes to be repaired into size groups and or process groups. Periodically re-organize them throughout the repair process as needed. Manage bike parts, cleaning supplies and tool areas to ensure appropriate supplies are on hand at all times. Notify the Director of Warehouse Operations when supplies are low and need to be reordered. Meet bike recipient organization representatives and direct them to their “Ready for Pickup” refurbished bike order. Remove inventory tags and update accordingly in the inventory tracking system. Organize parts, storage, and office areas to ensure everything is easy to find and free of junk, clutter, and trash. Strip needed parts from non repairable bikes as needed. Regularly remove trash, scrap metal and other recyclable bi-products from the warehouse. Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Moderate to advanced knowledge of bicycle, automotive, or other mechanical equipment repair.

Knowledge/Skills:

Good communicator, a positive thinker, possesses moderate computer and mobile device skills. Ability to safely drive a box truck. Clean driving record.

Abilities:

Organized and efficient, work effectively under pressure, respond positively to change, attention to detail, able to communicate clearly, good people skills a must .

Experience:

Some leadership experience, preferably leading a team.

Behavioral attributes:

Willingness to take initiative and work effectively without close supervision, diligent self-starter, maintain calm and complete workload under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities, shows encouragement to others, adaptable and flexible, etc.
