Build Your Career with Ashley! Distribution Center Operations Manager What Will You Do? The Operations Manager will lead productivity management activitiesfor multiple departments, work centers, and processes on anassigned shift within a distribution center. This role involvesmentoring department supervisors to meet overall performance goalsin terms of productivity, cost, quality, and safety. The OperationsManager will coordinate activities through strategic planning withdepartmental supervisors, supply chain support teams, HR managers,and transportation management to ensure timely and cost-effectiveachievement of operational objectives. This position requiresstrong analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to deep diveinto critical business problems, and the acumen to leverage data toprovide effective business solutions.
Responsibilities:
Productivity Management:
Direct productivity managementactivities for multiple departments, work centers, and processes onan assigned shift within the distribution center.
Process and Quality Improvement:
Lead efforts to develop newprocesses and improve product quality by collaborating withinternal and external customers and suppliers.
Forward Planning:
Plan in a forward capacity by coordinatingwith purchasing, production, and inventory control to maintainproduct flow and meet operational and financial objectives.
Standards and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to high standards ofdistribution center cleanliness. Conduct regular safety audits andensure compliance with safety training and practices.
Employee Management:
Make employment decisions andrecommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers,promotions, terminations, and pay adjustments. Manage employeeperformance, provide coaching and mentoring, administer performancereviews, and plan and implement employee training and skilldevelopment activities.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
Use data analysis to identifytrends, diagnose issues, and develop actionable insights. Leveragedata to make informed decisions and propose efficient businesssolutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with other departments(HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety and Security, IT) to alignstaffing plans, schedules, and performance levels with businessneeds.
Resource Optimization:
Optimize resources, including equipment,facilities, employees, methods, and materials to achieveoperational excellence.
Continuous Improvement Projects:
Drive continuous improvementprojects by utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizentechniques. Apply data-driven methodologies to streamlineprocesses, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
Inventory and Systems Management:
In your inventory control andsystems environment, manage timely data collection, updateoperations metrics on an hourly basis, and ensure accuracy ininventory management and order fulfillment.
Safety and Health Standards:
Maintain health and safetystandards within your remit area while promoting an inspiringhealth and safety culture on-site.
Performance Monitoring:
Regularly audit operations to ensurestandard operating procedures are being adhered to and manageemployee time-keeping and absentee records accurately.
Communication and Leadership:
Communicate company anddepartmental goals effectively. Facilitate employee growth throughregular team meetings, coaching, and training sessions.
Customer Satisfaction:
Ensure operational goals align withcustomer satisfaction targets, understanding customer needs,resolving complaints, and enhancing the overall customerexperience. What Do You Need? Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, orrelated field. 3+ years of experience in distribution/ecommerce leadership ora related area. Strong analytical skills with the ability to deep dive intocritical business problems. Supervisory/Management experience leading a team of hourlyassociates Experience in managing resources to optimize equipment,facilities, employees, methods, and materials. Proficiency in Lean Methodologies and Continuous QualityImprovement principles. Experience with system improvement methods, capacity planning,and product flow. Proven ability to leverage data analysis to drive businessinsights and solutions. Strong project management and continuous improvementskills.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or equivalent. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques. Experience in a logistical or e-commerce fulfillmentenvironment. Advanced proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel,Outlook). Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability tomentor and train team members. Flexibility to work weekends and/or night shifts. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with ahigh level of ambiguity and change.
