Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care Distribution & Pantry Manager – Fulltime Job Description Summary of position: The Distribution/Pantry Manager position demands a team player who reports directly to the Executive Director to provide leadership and management for the direction, planning and execution of food distribution, inventory management and food safety. This position ensures the Coalition operates efficiently and volunteers are supported in their endeavors.
Skills required include:
excellent communication skills, strict attention to detail, food safety and storage, management of volunteers, strong leadership and organizational skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be results oriented, able to establish and meet time schedules and show flexibility when unexpected changes occur. This manager must be able to drive a box truck (no CDL required), fork lift and use a pallet jack.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Distribution and Food Pantry Manager is responsible for the day to day management of all food related operations within the Sandhills Moore Coalition for Human Care in partnership with the Executive Director. This includes managing the Retail Food program, Food Bank and commercial donation pick-ups, distribution to the Robbins office, Outdoor market events/community events, food drives and fundraising events as requested by the Executive Director.
Duties include the following:
Support volunteers through training, supervision and policy education Organize volunteer staffing and schedules to ensure smooth operations Establish sound working relationships with vendors and the Food Bank Input data using established procedures into custom database program Ensure data accuracy by reviewing, correcting, deleting or reentering Combine and coordinate data across multiple systems Maintain adequate inventories the pantry and food distribution operations Manage purchases in conjunction with budget constraints with the Executive Director Perform other duties as requested with a sense of humor and team spirit Process donations and acknowledgements in a professional and timely manner Draft and edit correspondence, reports and other materials as needed Budget, schedule and manage all marketing and advertising projects Organize external food drives benefiting the Coalition Coordinate additional volunteer needs with Executive Director Ensure positive volunteer relationships through recognition and events Work with Director of Development on scheduling and planning of annual events Update website and social media outlets regularly to communicate needs, appreciation, and events in coordination with the Director of Development Perform cost analysis of food purchases with the Executive Director Establish strong working relationships with area churches, community groups, and local organizations in support of the organization’s mission
Position Qualifications:
High School Education required; Bachelor’s degree preferred Excellent computer skills, including MS Office – Publisher, Excel, Word Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal, diplomacy and tact Excellent driving record Proven data entry and database management experience Ability to work with diverse populations Well organized, thorough and detail-oriented Capable of maintaining focus amidst multiple distractions Grant writing experience is preferred Public speaking and strong community relations experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move 75 pounds, use ladders safely, operate a pallet jack and forklift Ability to drive a delivery van and box truck for pick-ups and drop offs Travels to meetings or events related to food service or fundraising as needed. Frequent contact with volunteers, vendors, clients and the general public. Ability to use all equipment in the pantry including computers, etc. Oversee the day to day operations of the food pantry and distribution warehouse. A thorough understanding of inventory management and food safety Training and directing volunteers to serve effectively. Coordinates schedules, assists in logging volunteer hours, and gives direction to the volunteers. Responds to request for information regarding in a timely manner. Attends team meetings as requested by the Executive Director Assists in coordinating training events for food pantry volunteers. Assists in coordinating food drives with local community partners including churches, schools, communities, and other organizations. Maintain cleanliness of all equipment and storage areas Keep accurate food pantry records Complete food pantry reports monthly and submit the requested reports and inspections to the Food Bank with the Executive Director. Other duties assigned on an “as needed” basis.
