JOB SUMMARY

This is an Operations position responsible forsupervising and directing the activities associated with delivery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, collaborativedirection to delivery supervisory staff, specific direction todrivers, routing, safety, and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises the daily work and safety of delivery associates,including adherence to standard operating procedures, adherence toplanned routes, and providing safe and efficient customer service
  • Analyzes live and historical data to ensure accuracy formaintaining optimal delivery plans and on-time customer service.
  • Supervises labor hours and directs labor activities to stay withinbudget.
  • Recommends work schedules including stop changes,classification changes, customer open/close times, windowexpectations and provides to the appropriate person for necessarychanges.
  • Supervises the proper selection utilization of companyassets in support of the delivery department.
  • Coordinatesrequired repairs with proper departments as necessary.
  • Reviewsdelivery productivity reporting to the appropriate supervisor forreview and determination.
  • Suggests efficiency ideas, costreduction measures and assist with implementation of deliverychanges.
  • Interprets, trains and consistently applies companypolicies, protocols and procedures including but not limited tofood safety, DOT (department of transportation), record keeping,performance expectations, and safe work methods, etc.
  • Communicates with Sales Management and Marketing Associates viaemail and maintains current communications board data tocollaboratively resolve any customer or delivery opportunities orissues.
  • Communicates proactively with drivers and directsactivities to ensure successful adherence to daily deliveryschedules and departmental performance goals and overtimeobjectives.
  • Coordinates efforts with Transportation RoadSupervisors and with Safety Trainer to insure consistent training,conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods,timely accident investigations to determine root causes, androutine safety inspections.

Makes recommendations for disciplinaryaction and/or behavior modification where required based on aconsistent review of performance data metrics.

  • Ability tokeyboard proficiently.
  • Utilize canned reporting.
  • Createspecific ad hoc reports to identify areas for improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word,PowerPoint as well as numerous variants. Education
  • High schooldiploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two or four-yearcollege degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management orsimilar major preferred. Experience
  • One to three years relatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of educationand related experience. Professional Skills
  • Ability tosuccessfully engage and lead individual and team discussions andmeetings.
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from otherdepartments, operating companies and Corporate in a proactive andconstructive manner.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and dealwith a variety of concrete variables in situations where onlylimited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety ofinstructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely andobjective manner.
  • Ability to work in a disciplined manner andcapable of following established procedures, practices and complywith local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage thepressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphereand customer service issues.
  • Demonstrates skill in makingindependent decisions in support of company policies and proceduresin a timely manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpretgeneral business periodicals, professional journals, technicalprocedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to writereports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Abilityto effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processingsoftware, and ability to learn Sysco technology software andprograms.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to read,comprehend, write and speak English.
  • Ability to add, subtract,multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals. Certificates, Licenses,and Registrations
  • Complete a Sysco approved a defensive drivingprogram
  • HazMat certification preferred. Physical Demands
  • Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate acomputer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
  • Theemployee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands andarms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20pounds.
