Job Summary:
As a Delivery Driver Shift Lead, you’ll split your time between leading a team of drivers during a shift and being out on the road yourself. You’ll help oversee dispatch operations, monitor route performance, support drivers in real-time, and make sure each delivery meets Amazon’s high standards for safety and customer satisfaction. This role combines driving responsibilities with team leadership duties, making it ideal for a reliable, hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to stay calm under pressure, think quickly, and pivot as needed to meet shifting priorities and unforeseen challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate delivery drivers during assigned shifts to ensure timely, accurate, and safe deliveries Serve as the main point of contact for drivers during the shift Support drivers before, during, and after routes (route planning, load-out, debriefs) Monitor route progress and assist with route adjustments as needed Perform deliveries as needed maintaining professionalism and care with all orders Conduct vehicle inspections inspected, fueled, and ready for the next day and ensure fleet cleanliness and safety compliance Handle customer concerns or delivery issues in real-time Assist with training and mentoring new drivers Support inventory loading, route planning, and shift handovers Communicate updates, incidents, or maintenance needs to management promptly Maintain van maintenance log and other shift documentation Track and report performance issues, incidents, and safety concerns to management Uphold Amazon’s standards for safety, customer obsession, and professionalism Effectively manage stress, last-minute route changes, and delivery challenges Maintain a positive, solution-focused attitude while handling fast-moving, dynamic operations
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Must be able to submit to a drug screen Must have a seven year clean driving record. No more than two marks on your driving record total. For example, one speeding ticket (counts as one mark) and one accident (counts as one mark). Must be in good physical shape to walk 5-7 miles during delivery day Proven experience as a delivery driver (2+ years preferred) Prior leadership or supervisory experience a strong plus Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable using routing/navigation apps and delivery software Able to lift [weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and work on your feet for extended periods Flexible schedule availability, including weekends or evenings as needed Calm, composed, and professional—even under stress or in difficult situation.
