He/she will be analytical, well-organized, and have excellent communication skills. The shipping manager must be comfortable with paperwork, computers and information systems. Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures is a must. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Use of computer to track, check, prioritize and route loads Manage documents such as shipping notices, bills of lading, etc. Direct and coordinate the flow of loads Inspect labels, codes and other symbols on pieces Supervise and lead others, including shipping clerks and material handlers Collaborate with managers of other departments to optimize workflow Resolve issues regarding shipped loads Reports to Transportation Manager Qualifications and Requirements Proven experience as a shipping manager Solid knowledge of logistics procedures Experience in preparing shipping documents Excellent computer skills Excellent communication and organizational skills Problem solving abilities Attention to detail Experience in directing and managing employees
