PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Assist in maintaining the continuous operation of water distribution and delivery system by providing supervision and management of maintenance and construction. Support and implement all policies outlined in employee handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager Maintains operation during Distribution Manager absences. Assist in directing department to complete tasks within established guidelines and timeframe Work independently under general guidance, using discretion to determine how best to complete assigned tasks Mark sites to be excavated for TN-ONE-Calls as needed. Support and implement all company safety policies and procedures Conform to guidelines formulated under OSHA, Workman’s Compensation, and company’s insurance carrier as well as State and Federal regulators. Promote a strong safety culture among team members Check & monitor all confined space entries Make decisions on sloping, shoring, and benching on all trenches Assist in building positive, productive employee relations. Appropriately encourage employee suggestions and constructive criticism Maintain positive, productive customer relations/communications Must have a working knowledge of heavy machinery and equipment used in distribution systems Assist in supervising employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Handle disputes and/or complaints within the framework of company policies Support, implement and enforce all policies outlined in the company policy manual

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

GENERAL REQUIREMENT

Must meet residential policy requirements a 45-minute response time to Consolidated Utility District’s main office and maintain that residency status as a condition of their employment.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The following combinations of degrees and experience are acceptable: High School Diploma (or GED) plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a water utility or related construction management field, or A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Construction Management, Management, Business, or related field. Minimum 3 years of team management experience. Leadership training/experience State of TN Water Distribution System Operator Grade II Certificate of Competency or the ability to obtain within 24 months. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with a safe driving record Valid Class “A” CDL with airbrakes is preferred Strong understanding of water distribution systems facilities and operational logic Good knowledge of Rutherford County preferred

SKILLS REQUIRED

Competent Person Certification for Trenching and Excavation Certified Forklift Operator or ability to obtain certification within 6 months Operate a wide range of equipment and hand and air tools Basic tool, equipment, and vehicle maintenance Intermediate proficiency with common computer software and hardware Ability to read and understand construction plans
