Full-Time Job Summary :
The Warehouse Superintendent/Manager is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective receiving, storing, inventorying and shipping of goods. This role requires a strategic thinker with leadership skills, a focus on safety, and a commitment to optimizing warehouse processes to meet and exceed company goals. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can motivate a team and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, inventory, packing, and shipping.
- Develop and implement efficient warehouse layout and storage strategies to maximize space utilization.
- Ensure accurate inventory management and control, including regular cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Monitor and manage warehouse equipment and maintenance, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate warehouse staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Schedule and communicate with staff to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
- Train and develop warehouse staff on safety procedures, equipment operation, and best practices.
- Resolve employee issues and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and training.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements (e.
g., OSHA, DOT).
Inventory Management and Logistics:
- Beyond warehouse oversight, you’ll be a key driver in our delivery process, ensuring all DOT pre-trip inspections, load securement, and driving logs are meticulously maintained.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely and accurate data entry.
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively address potential shortages or overstock situations.
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to minimize shrinkage and errors.
- Work closely with purchasing and sales departments to optimize inventory flow.
Performance and Reporting:
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure warehouse efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare and present regular reports on warehouse performance, including productivity, inventory accuracy, and safety metrics.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work with logistics to optimize shipping and receiving schedules.
Technology and Systems:
- Utilize software to manage operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to warehouse systems.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
