DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The primary role of the Director Engineering Supply Chain is overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain processes critical to the efficient functioning of our Engineering operations team. Your responsibilities will span across inventory management, order processing, forecasting, and cycle counts, ensuring seamless coordination to support the parts and services essential for CSX’s infrastructure. Primary Activities and Responsibilities Develop and implement robust inventory management strategies to maintain optimal stock levels of engineering materials
Lead the cross-functional order fulfillment process, ensuring timely and accurate ordering / delivery of materials and services to Engineering department Utilize data-driven insights and industry trends to develop accurate demand forecasts in collaboration with key internal stakeholders
Maintain comprehensive cycle count program to validate inventory accuracy
Manage and mentor supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement aligning with organizational goals and objectives
Monitor and/or develop key performance indicators (KPIs) on supply chain performance
Support and provide insight on CSX’s Enterprise Resource Planning transformation for all aspects of supply chain Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices to enhance overall supply chain effectiveness and efficiency
Ability to timely respond to emergency needs that arise on railroad
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree/4-year Degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Business, Management or other related degree 3 or more years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, or Operations Management Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree/4-year Degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Business, Management or other related degree Master in Business Management or equivalent related degree
7 or more years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, or Operations Management Knowledge and Skills Ability to communicate effectively with Senior Leadership
Project Management skills including scheduling software
ERP system experience or understanding (Oracle or SAP preferred)
Training development and delivery skills
Supply chain and procurement principles generally Leadership
