Job Description Provide functional expertise in logistics operations in help of inbound warehousing, transportation, and finished goods distribution for Global Logistics. Help the growth of our continuous improvement program using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Propose and help the deployment of market leading warehouse operations in our internally operated distribution center and with our 3PL warehouse providers. This includes set up of SAP WMS processes, warehouse layout, and process development to drive warehousing labor efficiency, improve operational metrics, and drive out non-value-added work. Essential Job Duties Resolves bottlenecks and other operational problems that prevent a timely and efficient handling of inbound and/or outbound orders (e.g. purchase order receipts and fulfillment of interplant stock transport orders).
Conducts study as required to investigate and establish root cause of compliance, quality or other performance failures and implements corrective actions.
Effectively benchmarks and leverages lean oriented tools such 5S and Six Sigma to eliminate waste and help error proof transitional work.
Run formal CI program and provide cross logistics training in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
Drive implementation of projects that meet operational improvement goals and targets (e.g., throughput, transaction accuracy, process controls, ergonomic, layout, and other process improvement initiatives).
Management of operations and resourcing necessary to help satellite warehouse locations.
Develop and deploy key operational performance metrics, which are utilized to hold employees accountable for all day-to-day activities.
Develop operations team knowledge of warehouse operations, continuous improvement, and WMS applications.
Apply data skills to identify and employ strategies to optimize warehousing, pick, pack & ship process, and meet shipment deadlines.
Ability to guide moderate to large cultural and behavioral change management initiatives successfully. Qualifications Bachelor’s of science in Engineering or equivalent work experience preferred 10+ years of experience working in a warehouse or operations environment. Experience in leveraging lean process tools such as Six Sigma and 5S. The ability leading training courses for Lean/Six Sigma and other operational excellence methodologies. Highly skilled in MS Office suite including Excel & PowerPoint. WMS, Access and/or SQL database experience. Required Education and Training APICS CLTD, CSCP, CTST, or CPIM certification preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred. Preferred Skills and Experience Demonstrated ability to successfully drive projects and process improvements in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess proven organizational skills to meet deadlines. Must be able to apply sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of challenges. Experienced with organizing unstructured data to help proposals or operational plans. SAP knowledge preferred.
