Job Description
Logistics Manager Confidential Springfield, MA 01101 Global Distribution Company in Western Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to manage and optimize transportation, distribution, and supply chain activities of the company. This role focuses on coordinating shipments, managing carrier relationships, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving overall supply chain efficiency to meet customer and business needs. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position supervises 6 global employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Transportation Management:
Plan, manage, and coordinate all transportation activities including inbound and outbound shipments. 2.
Carrier & Vendor Management:
Source, evaluate, and manage third-party logistics providers, freight carriers, and transport partners. 3.
Route Optimization:
Implement route planning strategies to minimize delivery times and reduce costs. 4.
Compliance:
Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations. 5.
Customer Coordination:
Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to ensure timely delivery and resolve logistics issues. 6.
Cost Control:
Monitor and manage transportation budgets, negotiate contracts, and identify cost-saving opportunities. 7.
Data & Reporting:
Analyze logistics performance data, create reports, and recommend improvements in processes and systems. 8.
Technology Use:
Utilize logistics software systems such as TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and ERP platforms to manage operations. 9.
Risk Management:
Identify potential disruptions and develop contingency plans.
SPECIFIC EDUCATION, JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY 1.
Prefer bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field. Will consider relevant experience, training, and certifications. 2. 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management (excluding warehouse operations). 3. At least 2 years supervisory experience. 4. Strong understanding of transportation modes (road, air, sea), carrier contracts, and logistics cost structures. 5. Experience with logistics and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Transportation Management). 6. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. 7. Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines. 8. Proven ability to be a team player and collaborate with other departments. 9. Flexible, self-managed, and persistent with exceptional follow-through skills. 10. Experience with international logistics highly desired. 11. Certification in logistics Preferred (e.g., APICS, CSCMP, Six Sigma).

$80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
